White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) has caused mass mortalities and devastating production losses to shrimp farming in many countries. It is now evident that infected seed is a common source of WSSV infection in shrimp ponds and that PCR screening of seed can significantly reduce the risk of crop failure.

SINGLE TUBE WSSV DETECTION KIT
(Single Tube Nested PCR)

Genei's single tube nested PCR kit for White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) detection is based on innovative nonstop, single tube nested PCR technique. In this assay both the first and the nested PCR steps are performed within one PCR run in the same reaction vial.
The assay can indicate the degree of severity of infection. The kit can produce up to three PCR products according to the severity as below:
 

• Severe Infection (> 105 viral particles)- produces all 3 fragments (942, 525,&204 base pairs (bp)
• Moderate Infection (103 - 105 viral particles)- produces 2 fragments (525 & 204 bp)
• Low Infection (10-103 viral particles) - produces 1 fragment (204 bp)

MONODON BACULO VIRUS (MBV) DETECTION KIT
(Nested PCR method)

Monodon Baculo Virus (MBV) has been linked with high mortality in late post larvae and juvenile shrimp cultures. MBV infection significantly reduces crop value and performance. Also MBV infected shrimps have a predisposition to infection by other pathogens like WSSV and a corresponding high mortality rates. Conventional diagnosis fails to detect early stages of infection. Genei's MBV detection kit, based on nested PCR assay is a sensitive and specific diagnostic tool that can detect upto 2 copies of virus. The high sensitivity of MBV detection kit enables detection of infection even in carriers.
